For as long as I had been attending Grace Revival Church in Nairobi, Pastor Samuel Mwangi was the embodiment of morality, discipline, and spiritual guidance. Every Sunday, he stood tall behind the pulpit, preaching about honesty, fidelity, and the sanctity of marriage. He spoke with authority, and every word resonated with truth—or so we thought. Congregants trusted him, looked up to him, and often emulated his life as a model of righteousness. I had been one of them, admiring his wisdom and integrity, never once questioning the man who seemed perfect.
It all began to unravel subtly. I noticed minor inconsistencies in his schedule. He would frequently “attend meetings” late at night or disappear during church retreats without explanation. At first, I dismissed it as pastoral responsibilities. After all, leading a congregation was no small task, and pastors often carried heavy burdens.
