For as long as I could remember, I had believed in the sanctity of our marriage. My husband, David Kamau, was a man who seemed devoted, loving, and trustworthy. Friends and family often praised him for being a model husband, a man who upheld Christian values in every aspect of life. I, too, trusted him completely. When he looked into my eyes and swore on the Bible that he had never cheated, I believed him wholeheartedly. Those words carried the weight of faith and trust, and I never imagined that such a declaration could be anything but the truth.
The first sign that something was wrong came subtly, almost imperceptibly. David started coming home later than usual, claiming work-related errands or late-night meetings. His phone was always within reach, and he became increasingly protective of it. I noticed unusual notifications that he quickly hid and a nervousness in his demeanor that seemed out of place for a man who had promised honesty.
