It all began in 2022, a year that has since remained etched in my memory with a mixture of hope, despair, and heartbreak. My daughter, the pride of our family, had always dreamed of working abroad to secure a better future for herself and for us. She spoke of Dubai with sparkling eyes and endless ambitions, promising that one day, she would bring us out of poverty. I believed her wholeheartedly.
Like any parent, I wanted the best for my child. I sold all our cows, the lifeline of our modest homestead, believing that this sacrifice would be the ticket to her dreams. I emptied our savings, cleared every little debt we had, and even sold some of our household items to cover the costs of her travel and the documentation she needed.
