I never imagined my life would change so drastically within such a short time. There was a season I slept hungry in a single room in Githurai, counting coins just to afford supper. Some nights, I chose sleep over food because it was cheaper. Life felt like a punishment I did not understand. Every effort I made to rise seemed to push me further down.
I worked casual jobs, hawked items in the sun, and borrowed endlessly. Each time I tried to save, an emergency would wipe everything out. Friends slowly disappeared. Relatives avoided my calls.
