Nyeri County is currently buzzing with shock and mixed reactions after a strange incident involving a woman who unknowingly caused bees to attack her own husband while trying to catch a thief.
Catherine Mukami, a resident of Nyeri, has become the talk of the town after she admitted that she sought help to deal with thieves who had been stealing from her home every week. Unfortunately, the plan backfired when the bees attacked her husband, Kennedy Njuguna.
Speaking to reporters, Catherine explained that she had been struggling for months with repeated theft in her home.
“Kila wiki lazima wezi waibe kwetu,” she said. “They were stealing money and household items. I work very hard plucking tea leaves every day, and the little money I earn would disappear from the house.”
According to Catherine, she would save her weekly earnings in the house, only to return and find the door broken and the money gone. She said she never suspected her husband because he was always around and appeared unaware of what was happening.
“Sikujua ni nani na singedhania ni bwanangu,” she explained. “He was always drunk most of the time, so I never thought he could be the one stealing from us.”
Catherine said she would question her husband whenever money went missing, but he strongly denied any involvement.
“Mimi sikuwa najua ni bwanangu,” she said. “Juu kama ningejua singeendelea kutumia nyuki. Shida ni kuwa nikimuuliza nani aliiba pesa kwa nyumba alikataa si yeye na ilikuwa ni yeye.”
Frustrated and tired of losing her hard-earned money, Catherine decided to take action. She revealed that she sought help from Dr. Kashiririka, asking for assistance to catch the thief once and for all.
“I decided enough is enough,” she said. “I had to talk to Dr Kashiririka to help me and cast a catch-thief spell using bees because of the pain I was feeling.”
Shortly after, bees reportedly attacked Kennedy Njuguna, leading to the shocking discovery that he was the one taking the money from the house.
“Kumbe mwizi alikuwa ni bwanangu,” Catherine said with regret. “When I realized the truth, I felt very sorry. But who had the mistake? I was only protecting what I worked for.”
Neighbors were left surprised by the unusual turn of events. Some expressed sympathy for the couple, while others said the situation could have been handled differently.
Catherine has since apologized publicly for what happened. She said she never intended to harm her husband and would not have taken that step if she had known he was the one responsible.
“I explained to my husband why I did it,” she said. “We talked about everything and forgave each other.”
Kennedy Njuguna has also reportedly admitted his mistakes, and the couple says they are now trying to rebuild their trust and move forward peacefully.
