Narok town woke up to shock and confusion after a well-known businessman was found dead in a local lodging under mysterious circumstances. The incident, which has left residents talking in hushed tones, involved the late Kipngetich Arap Mayani, a prominent figure in the area.
According to witnesses, the businessman had spent the night at a lodging in Narok with a married woman. What began as a secret meeting ended in tragedy before morning.
His wife, Mary Kipngetich, spoke through tears after receiving the heartbreaking news. Fighting back emotion, she said she had warned her husband about the relationship.
“Mimi nilijua Bwanangu alikuwa na urafiki na huyu mwanamke,” she said. “Nilimuonya asije akalala na yeye na nikamwambia nilikuwa nimeambiwa na rafiki yangu kuna wakati Bwanake alienda kwa Dr Kashiririka, Migori akamfunga bibi yake bila kujua.”
She claimed that the woman’s husband had once sought traditional protection for his wife without her knowledge.
“Bwana ya huyo mwanamke alikuwa na urafiki na bwanangu. Alikuwa ni police wa AP na wakati mwingi alikuwa kazini, akaamua amfunge bibi kwa sababu ya tamaa ya huku nje,” she added.
Mary further revealed that the situation had caused tension in her marriage before.
“Ata kuna wakati tulitusiana na huyu mwanamke. Bwanangu akanichapa na nikasema sitawai tena muuliza na kulingana na kimila chetu Bwana hafai kuulizwa. So niliachana na yeye,” she explained painfully.
According to early reports from people at the scene, the businessman allegedly collapsed in the lodging room during the night. Some witnesses claimed the pair had locked themselves inside for several hours.
One witness, who requested anonymity, described the moment.
“Mimi niliona akizirai. The lady collapsed but good the husband arrived. Don’t play with 8 hours watu wakiwa wameshikana ata hatumalizangi 30min,” the witness said.
The same witness claimed the woman’s husband later appeared and performed certain rituals before the woman was rushed to hospital.
However, authorities have not confirmed claims about rituals. Police sources indicate that the man may have died due to health complications. A preliminary assessment suggests he may have suffered high blood pressure.
Mary also addressed the cause of death as she understands it.
“What has happened na iwe ni funzo,” she said. “Ingawaje nina kilio, Bwanangu alikuwa ni mtu wa Pressure, mtu akiwa na miaka 57 si mchezo. Amekufa juu ya kupandwa na pressure na kukaa usiku mzima wakiwa wameshikana na yule mwanamke.”
