A dramatic scene unfolded in eastern Uganda after a man reportedly uncovered a secret ritual inside his family homestead, shocking relatives and neighbours who had gathered for what they believed was a normal family meeting.
According to witnesses, tension erupted when the man, who had been struggling with unexplained losses and recurring illness, suddenly demanded that everyone step outside the main house. Moments later, he emerged holding several items allegedly used in witchcraft, including small gourds, tied cloths, and strange powders hidden beneath the family bed.
Residents described confusion and panic as family members began shouting, with some attempting to flee the compound while others called local leaders to intervene. The man claimed the discovery explained years of mysterious misfortune that had affected his finances, health, and marriage.
Speaking moments after the incident, the visibly shaken man said he had acted after receiving guidance that helped him understand what was happening in his home.
“I was suffering silently. My business kept collapsing, my body was weak, and there was no peace in my house,” he said. “I was told to stay calm, observe carefully, and not accuse anyone without evidence.”
