A dramatic scene unfolded in Jinja, eastern Uganda, after a Jeova Witness pastor was reportedly caught with his trousers down inside church premises, sparking outrage among congregants and residents.

The incident occurred late in the evening when a man identified as a church member returned unexpectedly to collect items he had left behind after a service rehearsal. According to witnesses, the man forced open a side room after hearing unusual sounds, only to find the pastor and a female choir member in a compromising situation.

Speaking moments after the incident, the visibly shaken man said he had long suspected something was wrong but lacked evidence.

“I had been sensing disrespect and mockery behind my back, especially after my wife started changing and ignoring me,” he said. “I was told to stay calm and not confront anyone until the truth exposed itself.”

The man explained that days earlier, he had sought guidance after repeated humiliation and confusion surrounding his marriage and standing in the church.

“I was guided to observe quietly. I did exactly that. I did not accuse anyone. I waited,” he said.

According to him, that patience led to the dramatic discovery.

“When I opened the door, I froze. The pastor was there, pants down, and the choir woman was shocked. I could not believe what I was seeing. This is someone who prayed for us every Sunday,” he said.

The scene quickly attracted attention, with congregants gathering outside as shouting erupted. Some demanded immediate disciplinary action, while others called local leaders to prevent the situation from turning violent. Church elders later escorted the pastor out of the premises as tensions rose.

The man said the exposure brought immediate clarity and relief after months of confusion.

“I thank God the truth came out peacefully. Without the help I received, I would still be doubting myself and blaming innocent people,” he said. “Now I have peace because what was hidden is no longer hidden.”

Sources within the church said internal investigations are underway, while the choir woman has reportedly withdrawn from public activities as elders deliberate on the next steps.

Local authorities confirmed they were aware of the incident but said no formal complaint had been filed by the time of publication.

The incident has reignited debate in Jinja over trust, spiritual authority, and accountability within religious institutions, with many calling for transparency and counselling for affected families.
