Laughter, disbelief and relief filled a small village in Nyamira after a man who had spent months complaining about a mysterious illness suddenly returned to his normal energetic self, leaving neighbours both amused and amazed.
For nearly half a year, the middle aged man had become famous in the village for constantly blaming his strange health problems on a supposed curse. According to residents, he would often walk around the trading centre narrating how invisible forces had made his body weak.
Some villagers even jokingly nicknamed him “Professor of Curses” because he had a theory for every headache, stomach pain or bad day.
“If his tea was too hot, it was a curse. If his phone battery died, also a curse,” one neighbour joked.
His family says the situation had become frustrating because medical tests showed nothing serious. Doctors reportedly advised him to rest and manage stress, but the man remained convinced that something spiritual was behind his condition.
Things changed dramatically last week.
According to neighbours, the man suddenly woke up one morning in high spirits and began doing activities he had avoided for months. He was seen walking briskly around the market, greeting people loudly and even helping push a boda boda that had stalled on the road.
The same villagers who had been listening to his daily complaints were now watching him in disbelief.
“Yesterday he was saying a curse was finishing him. Today he is running faster than boda bodas,” another resident laughed.
The funniest moment reportedly came when one friend jokingly asked him whether the curse had taken a holiday.
The man himself simply smiled and said he felt much better and wanted to move on with life.
While villagers continue debating what might have caused the sudden recovery, many have turned the incident into a light hearted lesson about how stress and worry can sometimes make small problems feel bigger than they really are.
