Residents of Kisauni were thrown into panic late at night after a loud, terrifying scream was heard coming from a baking factory that locals have long viewed with suspicion.
For years, whispers have circulated about the factoryβs owner, with neighbours claiming something about the business felt βoffβ, especially after several attempted thefts in the area mysteriously failed. On this particular night, the fears seemed to come alive.
According to witnesses, the scream was followed by frantic banging sounds and cries for help, drawing residents out of their houses. Some people initially believed spirits were involved, while others feared a violent robbery was underway.
Moments later, a man suspected to be a thief was seen crawling out of the factory compound, trembling and unable to stand properly. He was not beaten by guards, and no one had touched him. Yet, he screamed uncontrollably, insisting unseen forces were attacking him.
βHe kept shouting that hands were holding him and pushing him down, but there was no one there,β said a resident who witnessed the scene. βWe were all shocked.β
The factory owner, Patel, an Indian businessman who has operated in Kisauni for years, later addressed the incident to calm public fear. He denied claims of spirits or occult practices inside the bakery.
βThere are no spirits here. I run a clean business,β Patel said. βBut I protect my hard work. Theft has destroyed many businesses.β
Patel revealed that after repeated break-ins and losses in the past, he sought special protection to safeguard his factory from criminals, insisting it was purely defensive and meant to deter theft, not harm anyone.
βI was tired of thieves. I looked for protection for my business so that anyone who comes with bad intentions cannot succeed,β he said. βWhat happened tonight is proof that crime does not pay.β
The suspected thief was later taken away by locals after calming down, still visibly shaken. He reportedly told residents he felt sudden pain, confusion, and fear the moment he stepped inside the factory, forcing him to scream for help.
Police officers who arrived later found no signs of physical assault or damage inside the premises. Investigations are ongoing, though no formal complaint had been filed by the time of publication.
The incident has reignited debate in Kisauni about business security, superstition, and the lengths entrepreneurs go to protect their investments, especially in areas prone to theft.
As calm returned, residents dispersed, many still unsettled by what they witnessed.
