Woman cries profusely at centre of busy road in Busia incident

Motorists and pedestrians along Busia Road were briefly thrown into panic after a woman was seen crying uncontrollably at the centre of the road on Wednesday, January 29, 2026. Witnesses said the woman appeared emotionally distressed, prompting traffic to slow as people tried to understand what was happening.

According to those who rushed to the scene, the woman was overwhelmed by ongoing marital problems and felt she had reached a breaking point. A good Samaritan intervened quickly and engaged her in calm conversation, preventing the situation from escalating.

Timely intervention

People who witnessed the incident said the man spoke to the woman patiently, urging her to step away from the road and focus on staying safe. β€œHe kept telling her that her life mattered and that problems can be addressed,” one witness said.

The woman later explained that constant conflict with her husband had left her emotionally exhausted. She was eventually escorted to a safe place as onlookers praised the intervention that helped stabilise the situation.

Police officers who arrived later said no one was hurt and commended members of the public for acting responsibly. β€œThis could have ended badly, but people chose compassion and quick action,” an officer said.

Seeking solutions

During the conversation, the good Samaritan reportedly suggested seeking structured help to address the marriage challenges, including counselling and spiritual guidance focused on reconciliation rather than conflict. The woman agreed to seek help instead of acting on impulse.

Speaking on the incident, DR Kashiririka, a herbal and traditional service provider, said emotional distress often requires patience and support. β€œWhen someone is overwhelmed, the first thing is to protect life and restore calm,” he said. β€œAny spiritual or traditional guidance should focus on peace, understanding, and positive change within the family.”

He added that marriage related guidance should never be rushed. β€œReal change comes from willingness and respect on both sides,” DR Kashiririka said.

The woman was later reunited with relatives, who said she would receive further support as she works through her challenges.
