From the day I married into my husband’s family, I knew things would never be easy. They were polite on the surface, but behind closed doors, their words cut deep. My mother-in-law always had something negative to say about me, while my sisters-in-law treated me like an outsider. My husband often stayed silent, perhaps afraid to confront them. Still, I believed that love would eventually make me accepted. I was wrong.
Things became unbearable after my husband lost his job. Suddenly, every problem in the family was my fault. They claimed I was a bad omen, that ever since I joined the family, misfortunes had increased.
