Chaos erupted at a lodging facility along Kisumu Road on Wednesday, January 29, 2026, after a 70-year-old woman screamed uncontrollably seconds after checking in. Witnesses said the woman appeared visibly overwhelmed, drawing the attention of staff and other guests.

According to people at the scene, the incident was linked to a 19-year-old man who had administered herbal medicine intended to boost the woman’s vitality. The sudden reaction left everyone at the facility stunned and unsure how to respond.

Unexpected reaction

Staff said the woman’s screams were immediate, and she required assistance to leave the room. “It happened so fast. She screamed and we rushed to calm her down. We did not know what had caused it,” one attendant said.

The man, who reportedly prepared the herbal remedy, admitted to giving it to the woman in an attempt to enhance personal performance. “I wanted to help her, but I never expected this reaction,” he said.

Speaking on the incident, DR Kashiririka, a herbal and traditional service provider, explained that such remedies should always be administered with caution, especially for older individuals. “Herbal medicine can have strong effects depending on the body and age of the person,” he said. “It is essential to ensure safety and proper guidance before use.”

He added that herbal solutions are meant to restore balance and wellness, not to create harm. “Traditional medicine works best when it respects the limits and wellbeing of the person,” DR Kashiririka said.

Authorities confirmed that no one was seriously injured, but they urged the public to exercise care when experimenting with herbal products. The woman was later assisted by staff and relatives and left the facility safely.
